I keep waking up at night and I cannot stop thinking about work. Is that normal?

I fall asleep fine but around 2 or 3 a.m. I wake up and my mind starts racing about work, family, and unfinished tasks. Sometimes I check my phone and then it becomes harder to go back to sleep. This has been happening several nights a week for a while. Is this a sleep disorder or just stress, and what can help me reset my sleep pattern?

Night waking with racing thoughts is commonly linked to stress and poor sleep habits, but if it continues it can turn into persistent insomnia. The best next steps are a stable wake-up time, less late-night screen use, and a short wind-down routine that repeats every night. If sleep remains disrupted for several weeks, a psychologist or sleep-focused clinician can help you address the underlying stress loop and prevent it from becoming chronic insomnia.
